CAST Testing & Engineering Sdn Bhd provides non-destructive testing (NDT) from our base in the Kidurong Industrial Area, Bintulu, Sarawak. NDT lets us assess the condition of welds, components and structures without cutting, sectioning or otherwise affecting the item under test, so defects are identified in the early phases rather than after a failure.
We have carried out independent testing and quality work since 2014, covering the analysis and evaluation of steel, soil and concrete materials for the construction, oil and gas, power plant, fabrication, marine and shipyard sectors.
NDT methods we perform
We routinely perform the following inspection methods on site and in our facility.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Flaw detection and thickness gauging of welds and materials using high-frequency sound waves.
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Surface and near-surface defect detection on ferromagnetic components.
Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
Detection of surface-breaking defects across a wide range of materials.
Positive Material Identification (PMI)
Verification of the chemical composition of alloys against specification.
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Examination of internal weld and component integrity using radiographic methods.
Hardness Testing
Measurement of a material’s resistance to deformation under a standard load.
Industries we support
Our NDT work supports the construction, oil and gas, power plant, fabrication, marine and shipyard industries. Inspection can be carried out at your site or at our Bintulu facility, depending on the component and the method required.
Choosing the right method
The method depends on where a defect is expected to be. Surface-breaking defects call for magnetic particle testing on magnetic materials or penetrant testing on non-magnetic ones. Internal defects require ultrasonic or radiographic testing. To confirm what a material is rather than whether it is sound, use PMI; to confirm its condition, hardness testing.
