CAST Testing & Engineering Sdn Bhd provides heat treatment services from Bintulu, Sarawak. Heat treatment is the controlled heating and cooling of metals to alter their mechanical properties, and we apply it to specific industrial requirements in the oil and gas fabrication and shipyard industries.
Heat treatment has been one of our two core specialisations, alongside non-destructive testing, since the company was established in 2014.
Why components are heat treated
Welding, forming and machining all change the internal condition of a metal. Controlled heating and cooling is used to bring that condition back within specification — typically to relieve residual stress introduced during fabrication, or to adjust properties such as hardness and ductility so the finished component behaves as the design requires in service.
Because the correct thermal cycle depends entirely on the material, the wall thickness and the governing specification for your project, we work from the procedure your job requires rather than a fixed menu. Send us the specification and we will confirm what we can support.
Sectors we support
Our heat treatment work supports the construction, oil and gas, and shipyard sectors, and complements the fabrication inspection work we carry out across Bintulu and the wider Sarawak industrial area.
Combined heat treatment and inspection
Because we perform both heat treatment and NDT in house, post-treatment inspection can be arranged with the same provider — for example hardness testing to confirm the resulting material condition, or magnetic particle testing on treated welds. Heat treatment equipment is also available through our equipment rental service, and qualified technicians through manpower supply.
What to send us
Heat treatment is specification-driven, so the useful starting point is the paperwork rather than a description. Send us the material and thickness, the governing specification or procedure, and whether the work is at your site or ours. We will confirm what we can support and how it would be documented. Our registrations are listed under accreditations and licences.
